A weekly variety radio show and podcast showcasing the best in Ukrainian culture, history, folklore and music. Broadcasting from the west coast of Canada in English and Ukrainian.
Orest is just giving you a hand... With all those fabulous Ukie artists and groups, how could one person possibly cover them all? No matter how knowledgeable, erudite, and well-connected...
Your political posts are very insightful and valuable, especially as they pertain to the music and broadcasting industry in Ukraine. So please keep 'em coming!
Besides, as you know, I believe that the more Ukrainian bloggers there are, the better! :-)
Vasyl I'm not quite sure what you mean by your comment. Have I posted anything to suggest that I am "sick and tired". My focus comes more from how Ukrainian music lacks the "push" to make it to the big time. Its just plain sad how Ukrainian artists are being promoted here the promised land.
I think I just had a bad hair day when I posted that comment...
I will agree with you that there is a lack of promotion, but there are many other factors involved. The lack of systemization of the music industry in Ukraine is one of the problems, while another is the plain lack of strategy on behalf of the Ukrainian Government, they are doing nothing to promote or protect the Ukrainian cultural industry.
If Yevhen Stupka the new Director of MTV Ukraine does his job right then the charts of MTV Ukraine will look much like the charts of MTV France.
If you have a chance, listen to Skhidna liha on Radio Continent on the web, this Friday at 17:15 Kyiv time. Just follow the Translatsia v Interneti link at the bottom of Continent's page.
Rostyslav Shtyn, my business partner interviews Yevhen on the premiere of our radio show.
It seems this blog has been removed which is terrible, because it was a great resource for people who wanted to delve further into ukrainian music and learn about the newest musicians emerging from ukraine. any word on it it was moved somewhere else?

Well it seems like Orest got sick and and got tired of me interjecting politics into my blogs...
Oh, I doubt that, Vasyl!

I agree, Yakym, it is a shame that blog has been removed from cyberspace.
I could be wrong, but far as I know, it hasn't been reinstated anywhere.
If I ever come across it again, or a similar one, I'll be sure to post a link to it.
Thanks for stopping by!
