Oh yes, I love Mykhailo Poplavsky, a man who freely admits that he has no voice, that he is no singer, although most his (carefully and professionally edited) concert numbers are hugely popular in the Ukrainian-speaking and thinking part of Ukraine. His "salo" (fatback) number is one of the best. This here video clip a stylized version of a scene from Nikolai Gogol's "Christmas Eve".
Webster's defines backfast as
Chiefly South Midland and Southern U.S. the fat and fat meat from the upper part of a side of pork, usually cured by salt.
Sorry, I meant "fatback"
